2024 Southern Colorado Braille Challenge

The regional Braille Challenge competition was a great day for our braille-learning/using students to show off their skills as they competed in their various levels. Many students are new to learning braille, so we had a large group of students participating in the Braille Challenge for their first time this year. Students gave feedback that it was hard, but they felt good about participating in the competition. Their proctors shared feedback that these students stayed focused on doing their very best and maintained positive attitudes throughout each session of the competition.

When all competition sessions were finished, we gathered for an in-person closing ceremonies. It was a great way to wrap things up after the day of serious competition. We celebrated all the competitors for their determination and their excellence in doing their best work, and we celebrated all the students in the rookie groups for their participation in their braille/tactile learning activities. Students cheered for one another as they were recognized for their work. The festivities wrapped up with a rousing performance by the all-student Bulldog Band.
