The Ascent adults have been hard at work connecting with Colorado families! They are part of the Ascent Program, created and funded by Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) with CSDB, to provide families opportunities to meet diverse Deaf/Hard of Hearing/Deafblind (DHHDB) adults, learn about their life experiences and get support in their journeys with their DHHDB children.
In addition to meeting with families in their homes, the Ascent adults have provided support to families at many state-wide events such as Steamboat STARS Family Ski Weekend, DHH + Autism Family Day, Annual Holiday Party, Denver Zoo with The Listening Foundation, Colorado Hands and Voices DHHDB Adult Panel, CSDB Summer Park Gatherings, and CSDB Early Literacy Events. The most recent events were at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and the Children’s Museum of Denver with more than 180 families attending!
It is thrilling to have so many families be positively impacted by the Ascent adults to feel empowered about their children’s futures! A happy parent who met with an Ascent Adult said, “She was so nice and gave us so much advice and information! We are so happy we got this opportunity!”
