Braille is a way our blind students get to show off their independence. When our students want to read a book or read a magazine, it needs to be in braille so they can access it all on their own. January is a month dedictated to Braille Literacy.
The braille used by our students is so important there is a contents held every year by the Braille Instittute in California called the Braille Challenee. Students from across the country compete in a reading and writing competition with braille. CSDB has this contest scheduled for February 27, 2025.
Louis Braille invented the braille code that is used today. The anniversary of Louis Braille's birth is January 4. He was bron in 1809.
