In our Independent Living Skills Curriculum, Bridges to Life students are studying the importance of being informed voters and understanding the dynamics of a democratic society. As part of these lessons, students visited the Democratic and Republican headquarters in Colorado Springs, where they were warmly welcomed by officials from both parties. These officials spoke to the students about their respective platforms and participated in a question-and-answer session.
A common theme from both parties was the importance of staying informed and actively participating in civic duties, such as voting. In class, students learned how to register to vote and will have the opportunity to apply this knowledge in the upcoming November elections.
