This Spring semester, Justin Wilson and Nick Catalano, Teachers of the Deaf, have a chess class, which is considered an elective class. This chess class offers an authentic experience for all students to learn why various approaches and strategies are important in the game of chess, along with critical thinking methods. We are planning on traveling, in April, to the Texas School for the Deaf, located in Austin, Texas for the chess tourney where our students will be playing against multiple deaf institutions. We are all extremely excited!
