July 30 CSDB Return to Learning plan. (Distributed to CSDB staff and families, July 24) “Districts have been directed to work with their local public health department and follow the guidelines from the CDC. The CSDB plan will continue to change throughout the coming weeks as additional guidance is provided by the CDC and the El Paso County Public Health. Both agencies are supplying the regulatory framework in terms of hygiene, social distancing and other public health considerations.”
July 24 CSDB will return to learning, August 24, 2020!
July 22 El Paso County, CO – Based on increasing COVID-19 cases in the Pikes Peak Region and new hospitalizations, El Paso County Public Health recommended that K-12 in-person learning not begin until on or after August 17. Press release
July 16 “A statewide mandatory mask order is now in effect for Colorado.” Governor Polis signed Executive Order D 2020 138. “Individuals performing the following activities are exempt from the requirements of the Executive Order while the activity is being performed. ‘Individuals who are hearing impaired or otherwise disabled or who are communicating with someone who is hearing impaired or otherwise disabled and where the ability to see the mouth is essential to communication.'” FAQ document

April 6 Remote instruction for students begins.
April 1 Today, during a press conference, Colorado Governor Jared Polis announced the suspension of in-person learning, across our state, through April 30, 2020. This order aligns with the President’s guidelines announced earlier this week. CSDB will therefore remain on our current path of remote learning. At this time, we do not know if we will return after April 30, 2020, or if the suspension of in-person learning will continue.

March 30-April 3 Parents on-line learning 3.20.2020 March 30, Principals will meet with teachers to solidify the remote learning plan. March 31-April 3, teachers, service providers and residential staff will contact families to set up times for instruction for students. April 6, remote instruction for students begins.

March 18, 2020 To help mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Colorado, Governor Jared Polis ordered that all public and private schools across the state suspend in-person learning from March 23 to April 17. The executive order directs Colorado school districts and the Charter School Institute to make every effort to provide alternative learning opportunities during this time while taking into account the needs of local communities. This order also directs the Commissioner of Education to issue guidance to support P-12 school systems in developing and implementing plans to assist families and students in accessing alternative learning, providing free and reduced lunch and breakfast, and offering waivers for instructional time as appropriate.

This order will extend that time frame. At this time, and per this order, students will return to school on Monday, April 20.

March 17, 2020 CDE announces pause on 2019-20 state assessments, accountability – State working on possible solution for PSAT, SAT
DENVER – The administration of end-of-the-year assessments, including the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS), will be paused for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year due to extensive school closures throughout Colorado to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Colorado Education Commissioner Katy Anthes announced today.
