Crested Butte ski trip

Students, in the School for the Blind, just returned from their annual ski trip to Crested Butte, CO with the Adaptive Sports Center (ASC). During ski lessons, each student was paired with an instructor and a volunteer which provided them with an individualized experience to work on trust, communication, making turns, paralleling skis, managing speed, and riding the chairlift. The ASC instructors and volunteers are the absolute best and their level of expertise is top notch!

Students showcased their leadership and self-advocacy skills by providing the ASC staff a presentation on low vision and navigation strategies. During our trip we also celebrated two birthdays, enjoyed riding the town bus to dinner, and students had many opportunities to expand their Independent Living Skills through cooking, house chores, and ordering and eating dinner out. Our trip to Crested Butte is more than just a ski trip and we can’t thank the ASC team enough for this incredible experience and opportunity!
