Hey there, super parents!  It’s that time again—IEP meeting season is upon us! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a first timer, we know that these meetings are a big deal. But don’t worry, we’ve got some tips to help you be prepared, confident, and ready to rock your child’s IEP meeting!

1.Homework Time (But Fun!): Before the meeting, take a moment to review last year’s IEP and the draft of this year’s IEP. Celebrate the wins and jot down any questions or concerns. Need help? We’ve got resources!

2. Bring the Positivity: We know that IEPs can feel serious, but don’t forget to highlight your child’s strengths and achievements. It’s all about building on those bright spots!

3. Draft Day: Keep an eye out—about a week before the meeting, you’ll receive a draft of your child’s IEP. Take some time to review it, make notes, and jot down any questions. Bringing these to the meeting will allow for more discussion and teamwork, ensuring that everyone’s on the same page.

4. Tag Team with the Teachers: Teachers are your allies! Reach out ahead of time to touch base and ensure you’re on the same page. A quick chat can go a long way.

5. Your Voice Matters: Remember, you are the expert on your child. Don’t hesitate to share your thoughts, ask questions, and advocate for what you believe is best. You are an important member of the IEP team and we want to hear from you!

6. Celebrate After: When the meeting’s done, take a moment to celebrate with your IEP team! Recognize the hard work you and your student have put in.

We’re here to support you every step of the way. Let’s work together to make this year’s IEP meeting a success!
