50+ Early Intervention providers from 3 states (Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico) gathered via zoom for a literacy based workshop on Saturday, April 15. The interstate collaborative planning team, from Colorado and Wyoming, invited Dr. Elaine Smolen and Dr. Maria Hartman from Columbia University Teachers College to share their knowledge on how to “Create a Reading Childhood”. The workshop was interactive, engaging, and full of research and strategies for literacy development in American Sign Language and Spoken English. Providers enjoyed the comprehensive look at language and literacy, appropriate assessment and literacy development tools, and the random book give aways! We are grateful for the opportunity to work across state lines, and for the many providers to came to the training!
