The family dorm took a trip to Third Street Apple Farm. Before they went, they had a discussion about the different kinds of apples there are, how to pick apples from a tree, what they can use apples for, and how they are not just for eating. When they arrived at the apple farm, they learned which apple trees are ready or not ready to pick. They obtained information literacy from learning about apple trees, how they grow, and read labels for the different kinds of apples. One student liked picking apples off the ground and exploring the rotten apples and all the holes from insects crawling around the apple. The students chopped apples to make homemade applesauce. They were excited to try homemade applesauce and were surprised by how many apples it takes to make applesauce. They seemed to love it!
