Tin Foil Engineering

6th-12th grade science students, in the School for the Deaf, kicked off the first week of the new school year with a FUN engineering design challenge activity called “Tin Foil Engineering Challenge.” They were asked to design and build the tallest free-standing tower using only one box of aluminum foil. Building a tower, using only one material, was a huge challenge for them, but it was a blast! They were enthusiastic to develop their 21st century skills, especially critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and communication. These skills are essential for 6th-12th grade learners to succeed, in school.
