CSDB's Student Health Services nurses are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for students.  Nursing services are offered on campus from 6:00a.m. to 10:00p.m.  In addition, nurses are available on-call after 10:00p.m.  The Student Health Services team provides emergency care and first aid, handles special health problems, supervises and regulates medication dispensation, and provides health education to students and staff.  Our nurses follow regulations set forth by the Colorado Department of Education for school health. Please note that any medication that is administered on campus is required to have both parent and doctor approval before being given.

Health Services staff provide many services including:

*monitoring needed student medication

*checking students who are injured

*checking students who feel ill

When a student arrives at the Student Health Center, he/she will be assessed for treatment.  If necessary, medication may be administered and then the student will be observed for a short period of time before determining if he/she can return to the classroom or dorm.  Since we are a residential school, it may be necessary to send a child home if the illness is contagious or requires additional health care at home.  If you are unsure if you should send your child to school or not, please give us a call, 719-578-2166

Current Immunization Records are Required for every student.  All parents/guardians must provide proof of current, up-to-date vaccinations upon enrollment.

Annual health examinations will be required for every preschool student at CSDB. A Preschool General Health Appraisal Form must be completed by a health care provider before your child may start preschool.  A preschool physical is required annually.

If a student is to receive any medications at CSDB, other than the parental approved over-the-counter medication supplied by the school, a Medication Administration Authorization Form must be completed and signed by both the parent/guardian and a physician.  This includes prescription and non-prescription medications.  A student is not allowed to keep medication with them during the school day or in their dorm room that has not been approved by a student health nurse.

If your student requires a special diet for allergies or special food preparation (i.e. chopped, pureed), a Food Modification Dietary Disability or Meal Modification Form must be completed and signed by your child's physician every year.

All students who participate in sports-related activities will be required to have a documented health exam before the start of the school year.  A sports physical will be required annually.
