November 2023

Preschool students loved October! Not only did they enjoy the pumpkin patch field trip but they also learned a lot about Fall; leaves changing colors and why they fall off the branches, the lifecycle of a pumpkin, how to carve pumpkins and scoop pumpkin seeds and more.

October 2023

The Preschools for the Deaf/HH and for the B/VI are having a fantastic fall so far! Students went on a leaf hunt in early October and made collages with leaves and twigs they found.  Students love visiting the campus library and checking out books. The cozy corners in our classroom are popular places for the children to sit and read or have stories read to them in ASL, via talking books, or by their favorite teacher or staff members! Our students are working and playing together in harmony and focusing on being respectful and kind to each other.

Colorado Springs Police Dept. in the House!

Our youngest School for the Deaf and School for the Blind students met with Officer Short, yesterday, to experience a police officer and his patrol car. Students delighted in sitting in the car, pushing the siren ON button, and changing the sound to, "Whoop, Whoop!"

Just a quick visit helped our students learn about this important community helper. Thanks, Officer Short and #CSPD!

Preschoolers - so cute!

In September, preschool focused on learning about Community Helpers. Preschoolers have really grasped the school routine and are loving their days at school.

Preschool Art

December 2022

Students in the Preschool for the Deaf spent time experimenting with color and shades. They made predictions and then tested their theories! The students started with base colors, then added black and white to see what happened. The class reports that when they added black, the colors became darker. When they added white, the colors became lighter. After mixing up the new colors, the students painted beautiful pictures to display in their classroom!
